The Department of Medical Biophysics, within the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, invites applications for a full-time probationary (tenure-track) faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, to begin on July 1, 2020.
Our departmental website (http://www.schulich.uwo.ca/biophysics/) describes our collaborative research-intensive environment involving over 100 graduate students and 70 principal investigators from the University and its affiliated research institutes and hospitals across the city of London. The successful applicant will have opportunities for additional cross appointments in appropriate clinical departments, along with appointments and full access to state-of-the-art imaging equipment within the Lawson Health Research Institute, Robarts Research Institute, and Biomedical Imaging
The preferred candidate will have demonstrated expertise in the development of biomedical technologies such as medical imaging, wearable and embedded sensors, additive manufacturing, and machine learning for applications in musculoskeletal health, with a particular focus in joint replacement. Candidates must have experience or demonstrated commitment towards translation of novel developments, including through commercialization pathways and industry partnerships. The ability to employ these technologies to generate complex data sets in biomechanical testing simulations and in clinical trials with patients is strongly preferred. The successful applicant must be able to excel in interdisciplinary team environments, especially with clinical faculty collaborators in the Departments of Surgery and Medical Imaging, to address broader issues of health outcomes and economics of the healthcare system as it relates to musculoskeletal health.
Applicants must possess a PhD degree in Biophysics, Physiology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline, and exhibit a strong record of peer-reviewed publications, with a high degree of potential for garnering independent grant support and participating in translational research teams. The applicant must have demonstrated a potential for developing innovative approaches within a collaborative research environment and a minimum of three years of relevant postdoctoral research experience. While this is a research-intensive position, the successful applicant must have a demonstrated track record of excellent performance in education as well as contributions to graduate and undergraduate education are expected. Compensation for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
