Columbia Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, starting July 1, 2025. Appointments will be made at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (untenured, but on tenure-track), depending on the applicant's qualifications. The positions are open to exceptional applicants in all areas of operations research and management science. We welcome candidates with research interests in the foundations of optimization, probability, machine learning, and data science. Candidates with strong methodological training and research interests in application-driven areas such as healthcare, energy, public sector OR, sustainability, networks, transportation, and supply chains are especially encouraged to apply.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. (or equivalent degree) in operations research, engineering, management science, applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, or in a closely related area by the start date of the appointment. Successful candidates are expected to build a strong research record and to contribute to the department’s educational programs. Columbia encourages multi-disciplinary research and collaborations across academic units on the campus. The Department is particularly interested in qualified candidates who, through their research, teaching, and/or service, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the university community. The candidate will benefit from interactions with various faculty from the School of Engineering and Applied Science, the Data Science Institute, Columbia Business School, Columbia Climate School, Columbia University Irving Medical Center, and the School of Arts and Science. Applicants must have the potential to do pioneering research and to teach effectively.
