General Job Brief
The Financial Aid Advisor reports directly to the Director of Financial Aid and is responsible for administering Title IV, institutional, and private aid.
This role also requires a comprehensive understanding of and commitment to the unique Christian mission and vision of ACU to Transform Culture with Truth, and the ability to advance that mission and vision through the performance of its duties, including person-to-person mentorship and discipleship.
Typical Duties (The following duties are those typically required to do the job but are not intended to include all duties that comprise the job content. Typical duties are intended to illustrate the diverse and levels of difficulty of the job.)
- Review ISIRs, resolve Verification, Comment Codes, Conflicting Information, and determine TIV eligibility according to financial aid regulations.
- Award undergraduate and graduate funding for term and non-term programs according to financial aid regulations.
- Clear TIV and Non TIV funds disbursements according to financial aid and ACU regulations.
- Collaborate with admissions staff to provide a positive experience for ACU students.
- Maintain financial aid student files for compliance with Department of Education regulations.
- Perform revisions of financial aid awards according to federal, state, and institutional requirements resulting from changes in enrollment status, changes in awards, and/or over awards.
- Complete R2T4 calculations for withdrawn students and process return of funds to the appropriate funding source as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service to students and parents via in person, phone, and email communications.
- Accurately review NSLDS and COD sites.
- Ensure FERPA confidentiality of personal and private financial information is maintained for all students and/or parents/guardians.
- Assist with VA and FWS student files.

Fair Labor Standards Act
This position is full time, non-exempt for overtime pay provisions as provided by the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and any applicable state laws.
Education and Experience (Classification is typically expected to possess.)
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Must qualify for Professional Access to the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in administering Title IV funds.
- Experience with financial aid software databases
- Experience working with Term and Non Term funding models.
- Technical knowledge of student financial aid programs, needs analysis, packaging, and
- disbursement of aid.
- Extensive experience with different SIS student systems and be able to adapt to new
- systems as necessary.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel spreadsheet design, formulas, reporting
- Broad-based knowledge of standard office administrative practices and procedures
